Malaysia is a Southeast Asian country occupying parts of the Malay Peninsula and the Island of Borneo. It is known for its beaches, rainforests, and mix of Malay, Chinese, Indian, and European cultural influences.
The capital, Kuala Lumpur, is home to colonial buildings, busy shopping districts such as Bukit Bintang, and skyscrapers such as the iconic 451m-tall Petronas Twin Towers.
There is also a strong commitment to diversity there, and as well as Malays and indigenous groups, there is also a sizeable Chinese and Indian population in Malaysia which is reflected in the architecture and cultural relics found in the country. Visitors there can choose from a wide variety of activities from hiking to diving, to shopping, or sampling the local food.
Policy Of Malaysia Visa
Visitors to Malaysia must obtain a visa from one of the Malaysian diplomatic missions unless they are a citizen of one of the visa-exempt countries. All visitors must hold a passport valid for at least 6 months. A Malaysian visa is an endorsement in a passport or other recognized travel document indicating that the holder has applied for permission to enter Malaysia and that permission has been granted. Visa which has been granted is no absolute guarantee that the holder will be allowed to enter Malaysia. The final decision lies with the Immigration Officer at the entry point.
A visa for Malaysia may either be issued through an embassy or consulate or through a simple online application. The Malaysian Immigration Department does not offer a visa on arrival. Therefore, all foreign citizens who require a Malaysian visa are required to obtain a visa before departure, whether a government office visa or an electronic visa (eVisa).
Most travelers who have the option of obtaining a visa online opt for this method since it is more convenient and faster than applying for a visa at an embassy. There are also around 70 countries that do not require a visa to travel to Malaysia for varying periods of a short stay. Travelers that are visa-exempt for Malaysia can visit for tourism, business, or transit for between 14 and 90 days depending on their nationality and the purpose of the visit.
Visa-free or eVisa citizens who wish to visit Malaysia for longer stays or other purposes must obtain a visa through a Malaysian government diplomatic office, whether a work visa, a student visa, or other available embassy visa type.
